Embroidery is the process of stitching designs directly into fabric using thread. It creates a premium, long‑lasting decoration that adds texture, dimension, and a polished, professional look. It’s especially popular for uniforms, hats, jackets, polos, and items that need to withstand heavy use.
Things to Know
Artwork and Digitizing
Embroidery has its own unique design rules because artwork must be translated into stitches. before production, designs are digitized, which means converting artwork into a stitch file that tells the machine how to sew each part.
Digitizing Expectations
Customers can expect a one-time digitizing fee for new designs. There may be a slight simplification of very detailed artwork. Designs will look best when comprised of solid shapes and bold lines. Embroidery doesn’t always reproduce gradients and tiny details the way printing options can, but works especially well with professional and bold marks.
Apparel Choices
Embroidery works on a wide range of products, especially thicker or structured items. Common choices include polos, button-downs, hoodies, jackets, hats, beanies, bags, aprons, towels, and blankets. Because embroidery uses needles and thread, extremely thin or stretchy fabrics may require stabilizers or may not be ideal for certain designs. Thread Colors
Embroidery uses thread rather than ink, so colors come from physical spools. Customers can choose from Standard polyester or rayon thread, or request specialty threads like metallics. Puff (3D) embroidery is available for raised effects on hats. Look below for a look at Pride’s available colors. Additional colors can be requested but may require a specialty color purchase fee.
Order Minimums and Pricing
Embroidery pricing is based on stitch count, not the number of colors. More stitches means more time on the machine, which affects cost. Pricing will also be influenced by number of embroidery locations, type of garment, and quantity ordered.
Turnaround Time and Proofing
Before embroidery begins, you can expect a digital proof showing placement, size, and colors. Once approved, you can expect the order to be completed within two weeks. Holidays and busy periods may affect turnaround times. If so, you will be contacted by our team. If you need your order done faster, rush options are available for additional costs.
