Screen Printing,

What to know?

Screen Printing is a process through which ink is dispensed onto a material like fabric, paper, or even glass.

Screen printing is a process where each color in a design is applied separately using a mesh screen and specialized inks. Because every color requires its own screen, the method is ideal for bold, vibrant artwork with solid areas of color. It’s especially cost‑effective for medium to large orders, since the setup work is the same whether you print 12 shirts or 200.

File Suggestions

To get the best results, we request high-quality artwork files when possible. Vector formats like AI, EPS, or SVG are preferred because they scale cleanly and separate colors easily. Raster files, like PNGs or JPEGs produce the best results when sent at least 300 DPI at print size.

Print Requirements

Some things should be kept in mind when considering your designs. Fine details smaller than a few millimeters may not reproduce well. Photographic of highly shaded images may require special techniques like halftones.

Apparel Choices

Customers can choose from a wide range of garments from our Products Page. Each item has its own printable areas, and some fabrics behave differently with ink. 100% cotton fabrics print and absorb ink well. Some fabrics are not compatible with screen printing due to potential heat damage. Please contact Pride if you are unsure about a fabric or placement.

Color Limits and Ink Types

Because each color adds cost and setup time, we encourage customers to decide the number of colors needed early on in the order process. Specialty inks like metallic, gloss, or puff are available but come with additional charges. You will receive a clear breakdown of number of colors and the according prices before beginning production. Pride uses Pantone colors to select and mix ink colors.

Order Minimums and Pricing

Screen printing ahs setup costs that don’t change with quantity, so we recommend an order minimum of 12 pieces. Pricing is influenced by number of colors, number of print locations, garment style and brand, and total quantity ordered. As quantities increase, the price per item typically drops.

Turnaround Time and Proofing

Before printing begins, you can expect a digital proof showing placement, size, and colors. Once approved, you can expect the order to be completed within two weeks. Holidays and busy periods may affect turnaround times. If so, you will be contacted by our team. If you need your order done faster, rush options are available for additional costs.

Additional Printing Options

DTG (Direct-to-Garment)

DTG printing uses a specialized printer to apply water-based inks directly int o the fibers of a garment. It is great for detailed, full-color artwork, especially when you want smooth gradients, photographs, or have a small order quantity.

Artwork Guidelines

  • Raster files (PNG, TIFF, PSD) at 300 DPI or higher works best
  • Transparent backgrounds are ideal for cleaner edges
  • Because DTG can produce subtle shading, it’s ideal for complex designs that would be impracticle for screen printing
  • Colors are printed using CMYK, so extremely bright neons or metallics can’t be replicated exactly.

Garment Selection

  • DTG performs best on 100% ring-spun cotton.
  • Light-colored garments
  • Dark garments require a white underbase and a pretreatment, which may slightly change the feel of the print.

What You Can Expect

    • A softer print feel
    • Precise detail and color gradients
    • Slight variations in color vibrancy depending on garment material
    • No minimum order quantities

Heat Transfer Vinyl

Vinyl transfers involve cutting shapes of lettering from colored vinyl sheets and heat-pressing them onto apparel. It’s durable, bold, and great for simple designs or personalization.

Artwork Guidelines

  • Vinyl works best with
    • Simple Shapes
    • Bold Text
    • Minimal fine detail
    • One-color or limited color designs

Garment Selection

  • Several types of items work well for Heat Transfer Designs
    • Cotton
    • Polyester
    • Blends
    • Bags and other accessories
